St Mary de Wyche Church
Like its next door neighbour Stoke Prior Wychbold grew in Victorian times due to the expanding salt industry. It is an ancient farming parish and Saint Richard of Chichester the holy bishop of Chichester, was the son of as yeoman famer and born on a farm somewhere in Wychbold or Droitwich.. hence his other name "St Richard de Wyche". Naturally we think he was born in Wychbold! John Corbett and the local Amphlett family paid for the large Victorian St Mary de Wyche to be built.
The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. The "de Wyche" part of the name is a delightful localization!
